The therapeutic process

You may be seeking counselling because you’re going through a particularly difficult period or are looking for greater meaning in life. Or perhaps you just have a sense that things aren’t quite right. An inner knowing brings us to therapy, a desire to live more fully. I view periods of struggle, crisis or discontent as an invitation for growth and to realise more of our potential.

Counselling relies on a confidential, authentic and trusting relationship between client and therapist. To facilitate that process, I hold a supportive and non-judgemental space based on listening, acknowledging and, where appropriate, guiding. I offer a compassionate presence to your experience so that together we can cultivate acceptance and work towards meaningful change.

Through a holistic approach that includes mind, body and feelings, we will explore how you might move towards an increased sense of authenticity, freedom and fulfilment. As I believe each of us holds an innate wisdom within, my aim is not to provide you with answers but to guide you towards finding your own truth. As your awareness grows, you will gain greater choice and may uncover previously concealed sources of strength and purpose.

Below are some of the areas we might look at together.

The self: anxiety, depression, difficulty feeling, trauma, loneliness, shame, low self-esteem, sexual orientation, gender identity, body image, overwhelming feelings, anger management, self-harm

Relationships: relationship challenges, establishing boundaries, sexual and relationship diversity, break-ups, intercultural relationships, social anxiety, grief and loss

Addictive/self-limiting behaviours: alcohol, drugs, love addiction, social media, disordered eating, obsessive behaviours, fears and phobias, intrusive thoughts

Spirituality and purpose: a search for greater meaning in life, feeling lost, lack of purpose, important life decisions, increasing creativity, connecting with untapped potential, developing mindfulness
